Hearing the Father's Voice...

These are the words God the Father spoke over his Son.  Not once, but twice.  Once at the beginning of His public ministry and once at the end.  I have a feeling these words filled Jesus' heart on so many days when his mind was assaulted.  There is nothing like the Father's voice when your life is filled with confusing noise.

Matthew 17:5
While he was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well please.  Listen to him!”

The Baptism of the Father’s Voice:
God’s voice – “This is my son…”
God’s heart – “I chose you.”
Our Shame Name – Alone
Our New Name – Known (You belong to me.)

“This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”

God’s voice – “whom I love…”
God’s heart – “I love you.”
Our Shame Name – Afterthought
Our New Name – Desired (You mean so much to me.)

“This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”

God’s voice – “in whom I am well pleased…”
God’s heart – “I am proud of you.”
Our Shame Name – Almost
Our New Name – Enough – (You make me very happy.)

“This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”

God’s voice – “listen to Him!”
God’s heart – “I believe in you.”
Our Shame Name – Average
Our New Name – Strong (You have what it takes.)

“This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”

Who you are and what deep question it answers:
Begotten of  - Where did I come from?
Beloved by – Does anyone actually love me?
Belong to -  Does anyone remember & celebrate me?

Believed in – Is there anyone who authenticates me?

May you feel baptized by the Father's Voice today.
